CPE Journal Week 6
Still behind, of course, but I’m catching up. This is Week 6–purchased by my very supportive and awesome Mom, of Minneapolis storytelling-land fame. She’s doing a show at the MN Fringe this year.

This image, for Week 4, was purchased by my Aunt and Uncle in Olean, NY. Many thanks to them for their support! There are new Sharpie colors out now–and they are pretty exciting. Sharpie Neons are my long, long awaited light blue and light green. Previously I was using a Read more…
This piece is for Week 3 (forever ago, now) and was purchased by the amazing Madelin Zaycheck, an amazing photographer friend of mine in the St. Paul area.
This one took me quite a while to actually finish. I had the drawing all ready, and even the date on it. But I never got around to coloring it; I wanted to use my professional markers for it. (I kind of jokingly call them my “White People” markers–there isn’t Read more…
CPE Week #2! This artwork was generously purchased by my one and only Dad (and on Father’s Day Week, to boot.) It took me a long time to get this up here, because I’ve been pretty busy just trying to get all my things together in my move. It’s almost Read more…
Over the creation of this image, I posted many “half-way-thru” images. But I couldn’t think of a good quote. I couldn’t and couldn’t and couldn’t for the longest time. Then, I found one hiding in the pages of Heidi Neumark’s book “Breathing Space.” Since I loved the book so Read more…
This image was used for the front cover of the Saint Paul and the Redeemer Easter Bulletin. (Sans the text; I added that later.) It is based on the Easter Readings from Year C, the Luke story of the resurrection…
Art with a touch of Bible–a particularly triumphant portion of Isaiah.
Between us is about the pretty city and the not so pretty city–a theme for just about anyone who lives in Hyde Park and the South Side of Chicago. There’s what we see above, the decoration and the pretty trains, the trees and the parks, and then there’s what’s down below–below Read more…
Here is just another doodle. I really enjoy just starting from scratch and seeing where it goes. Employed quite a lot of Bronze Metallic in this one; it was kind of an afterthought…I wanted the white to stick out a bit more. Most of the repetitiveness of this is just to Read more…
This is a Christmas post, even though it’s not a Christmas piece! It does have themes of Christmas though… part of the text reads “All that is, is love”. Merry Christmas with art, everyone!
Here’s a little one that I just enjoyed making. A turtle with a city on his back. It’s nothing spectacular, but I enjoyed doing it and I think it’s kinda neat.
Part of a Calendar on Zazzle. This is a doodle that took a much longer time. I worked on it throughout several classes, I think, and perhaps also a meeting. When coloring, I played with color families in order to “set off” space. Just enjoying some free drawing, really, squiggles Read more…
This is a very small doodle that I just liked so much the way it was. I didn’t feel like adding or taking anything away. So it is done, in its smallness. The shape reminded me of a snail, so that’s the title of it.
“Universe” is another one of the smaller drawings that I’ve done in my note-taking sketchbook. I find that I take a lot less notes in class… but I am ultimately, more attuned and more productive. I’m not really sure how this developed into what it is now, but I have Read more…
My fiftieth drawing!! How spectacular! It’s nothing special, just a doodle of a treehouse that got a little out of control (in the best way possible.)
Part of a Calendar on Zazzle. I’ve started to do a few pieces that are slightly more intentional–for particular purposes. I had a thank you card a while back, and since I’m doodling in a 5×7 notebook a lot more frequently, it seems more logical to make these drawings cards of some Read more…
I drew this one specifically for intricacy. I was playing around with the complicatedness and the intensity of the flowers, details, and cities.
